Sushma Ballard

Sushma grew up in Northeast India. She originally came from a Hindu family, but through a miracle, almost all of the family has become Christian. When Sushma was four, she lost her father due to a heart attack. Her family picked her to be a Hindu witchdoctor. When she was about eight years old, she became very sick. The family only took her to different temples to pray, but she only got worse. Eventually, some Christian missionaries come into the town. Sushma’s sister heard them preaching how God can heal people. She asked them to pray for her sister. Later, Sushma began to recover as the church was praying for her. A Catholic priest offered to pay for all the medical treatment if she would go and see the doctor. Her Hindu family was resistant at first because they thought their god would not be happy with their lack of faith. Over time, the family began to believe in Jesus. When Sushma was fully recovered, she dedicated her life to Jesus. She agreed to go wherever He called her. At the age of 16, she left home and moved to Nepal to become a missionary. She served God faithfully for nine years in Nepal. Sushma worked with her sister and brother-in-law during part of her time in Nepal. Meanwhile, she also had a calling to go to China. For six years, she prayed for China. Eventually, God opened the door for her to serve Him in China. She served one year in Chongqing then moved to Guangzhou. She remained in Guangzhou the rest of her time in China. Sushma met Jeremy in June 2012. He joined her in China in January 2013. They got married in August 2013. They served in China together until God called them back to India in August 2018.

Since returning to India, Sushma has devoted herslef to full-time ministry through Jesus Home Ministries. She has worked to strengthen local churches, support families, and mentor young people in discipleship and missions. Sushma has continued to serve in leadership, teaching, and mentoring roles within the ministry, while also raising her family with a strong foundation in Christ. She remains passionate about missions and has a heart for training the next generation of missionaries and leaders. Through her life and work, she continues to trust God’s guidance and seeks to see His kingdom grow in India and beyond.
