Read 1 Timothy 4:12, Ephesians 4:29, and 1 Corinthians 13
As you navigate through life, remember that your actions and words carry weight. You have the potential to influence others, no matter your age or stage in life. Paul’s advice to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12 NIV is timeless: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
- Be an Example in Your Speech: Consider how you speak around others. Are your words kind and uplifting? Do you speak the truth? Ephesians 4:29 reminds us to let no unwholesome talk come out of our mouths. Your speech should reflect integrity and grace, showing others the power of words that build up rather than tear down.
- Be an Example in Your Life: How do you spend your time? What do your actions say about your priorities? The way you live your life is a testament to what you value most. Make sure your actions align with your faith, avoiding places and activities that do not honor God. Living a life that is pleasing to God sets a powerful example for others to follow.
- Be an Example in Love: Do you genuinely love others? Love is more than just a feeling—it’s an action, a choice to put others’ needs before your own. 1 Corinthians 13 provides a clear picture of what true love looks like, and Jesus exemplified this love perfectly. Let your love be evident in how you treat others, offering kindness and compassion in all circumstances.
- Be an Example in Faith: Do you trust God in all areas of your life? When you place your faith in God, people notice. They see that you don’t give in to worry, but instead trust that God is in control. This confidence in God’s guidance and provision is a powerful testimony to those around you, showing them the peace that comes from living a life rooted in faith.
- Be an Example in Purity: Purity is about living a life of integrity, especially in your thoughts and actions. This includes avoiding sexual immorality and maintaining a commitment to purity in all areas of life. As you pursue a life of purity, you demonstrate the value of self-control and the importance of honoring God with your body and your choices.
People are always observing your behavior, whether you realize it or not. Your attitude and actions have the power to influence others positively or negatively. That’s why it’s crucial to consistently set a godly example, reflecting Christ in all you do.
